Architectural details make the difference, and quality historically inspired detailing by Guy Vance Brown Architects provided these homeowners with this charming English Country Cottage within the city limits of University Park, Texas. Full size patterns for entry roof timbers, entry arch stone, as well as the carved panels and beveled glass of the front door helped the builder and his artisans build this home as the architect and owners intended.
Special features included an antique carved fireplace mantle of sentimental value, an entry hall lit with an antique stained glass church window, and a breakfast banquette within a rounded turret to maximize view and comfort in minimal space.
Guy designed the English library with rich wood paneling. The layout, paneling, moldings, bookcases, doors, windows, ceiling beams, fireplace, and carved mantle, were all designed together as one integral design. Placements, alignments, scale, proportion, and material profiles were carefully studied, adjusted, and refined while meticulously dimensioning large scale details for construction. Guy helped the builder and craftsmen through construction. |
